''A Day With a Difference''

Enjoy a sedate sail from Whitstable Harbour around the Thames Estuary See the sights the WWII Forts. Cruise down to Margate passing the end of the old Herne Bay Pier Head, where once steamers called to take trippers to France. See the Ancient Reculver Church Tower, once more than a mile from the sea!

If you'd like 'Greta' to yourself we can accommodate up to 12 guests on your own day's charter. Be sure to bring a picnic hamper & drinks to suit your party. If you don't wish self-cater for yourselves we can arrange for a suitable picnic hamper. Individual bookings are also welcomed.

Sailing the Swale

Take a leisurely cruise up the Swale & under the Kingsferry & Gigantic Road Bridges that span the mainland & isle-of-Sheppey. Wind & tide permitting the choice is yours. We sometimes sail from Chatham, Rochester, Queenborough, Maldon or any other well known Sailing Barge haunts.

The Cost of Chartering Greta

The cost to charter Greta for 12 people (Max allowed on our licence) is £480 weekdays and £540 for a weekend day trip or Bank Holiday.

The cost for individuals is from £40 per person weekdays and from £45 at weekends and Bank Holidays.

We like to try and group individuals together to get a full barge of 12 where possible.

To join us for a barge match (limited space available) the cost is from £70 per person.

Children over 18 months old count as 1 due to our insurance being per head and non-dependant on age.

A 20% non-returnable deposit is required to secure your sailing day. If we are unable to sail due to weather or should Steve have to postpone your trip, we would always try and arrange for an alternative. If however you cancel your trip we would not be obliged to refund the deposit, as we will of held your day for you and turned other possible charters away.

Most of our trips from Whitstable Harbour with some from Faversham. Picking up at Standard Quay, the Ship Wrights or Harty Ferry.

Vouchers

Vouchers are supplied by post with a small fee of £1.50p for administration, printing & postage.

Catering

We suggest that you bring your own picnic, we do supply tea coffee and sometimes biscuits (if the crew have not eaten them first.)

Greta is Steve's home, therefore has a full Galley, you are free to make use of these facilities. But we have found that most charters work better with a buffet laid out on the galley table. (See the pictures in below decks to get an idea of the layout.)

We can arrange catering through a local caterer. Dietary needs and budget accomodated the chosen menu to be available to you before you sail. We would add an extra charge of 10% on the catering fee to cover our costs.

Weather & Unforeseen Difficulties

All our trips are subject to the discretion of the Skipper and are wind and tide dependant. Should we need to cancel you trip due to our wonderful British weather we would inform you as soon as is practical and endeavour to arrange an alternative mutually convenient day in the booked sailing season. Should we be unable to sail due to any other problems, (Skippers Discretion) we will inform you and your deposit would be returned.
